Parking to be allowed on Rivers Drive in Mexico

Posted

Residents of Rivers Drive in Mexico won approval to change the no parking restriction that the city had applied to the street.

Before agreeing to ease the restriction, city engineers conducted a thorough analysis. They deployed a traffic counter and reviewed the street's accident history. The department also asked from input from the Mexico Public Safety Department.

City engineer Drew Williford recommended that the City Council approve the changes.

Parking had been prohibited on both the north and south sides of Rivers. According to the new regulations based on the engineering study, there will still be no parking allowed on the street's south side between Sannebeck Drive and Christopher Drive. Vehicles can now be parked on the north side, except for a 50-foot buffer from the intersection of Sannebeck.

A petition drawn up and signed by 10 property owners on Rivers led to the decision.
