Posted

For the 16th year, Mexico golf landed some green.

The Bulldog Golf Classic happened Saturday at The Oaks in Mexico to raise money for the Mexico High School boys and girls golf programs and the Bulldog Golf Classic Scholarship Fund. There were winners from various flights, and the top three places earned prize money in the four-person scramble event with many local sponsors. Teams also competed in contests after a half hour delay because of rain.

The winner of A flight was Doolittle with a score of 58; second place was Bo Bo’s Lounge with a score of 59; and there was a three-way tie for third place with Darby, Pearl and Flanigan each scoring 60. B Flight’s winner was Nance with a score of 63, and second and third place were Scott and Schlemmer with scores of 64. First place for C flight was a three-way tie between Butler, Mid Mo Truck and McCurdy each with a score of 68.

The longest drive contest belonged to Benne on the sixth hole and Hendricks on the 15th hole. The closest to the pin was M Cope on the fourth hole and Kevin Hill on the 13th hole. The longest putt was done by Joe Ellison on the second hole and Jake Hendrix on the 11th hole, and Playter won the putting tournament on the ninth hole.
