Mexico girls tennis got out in the heat against Hannibal on Tuesday.
The Lady Bulldogs (2-3) lost 9-0 to Hannibal (4-1), but their young team picked up experience against a perennial competitive program. Jackie Medina-Lucas and Abbey Christianson played the closest varsity match, losing their doubles match 8-4 while Medina-Lucas lost the closest varsity singles match 8-3. Elin Paetzold and Kindyl Peak had Mexico's only win 6-2 in a junior varsity doubles match.
"We are a very young team with 10 girls that have never played tennis," head coach Kim Costley said. "While it's very exciting to have so many new girls, it is going to come with some growing pains. Everyone got to play two matches today and that's exactly what we need: some court experience."
Mexico plays at Battle (1-5) at 4:30 p.m. today.
