The streak is over for Mexico volleyball.
The No. 5 seed Lady Bulldogs hadn't won a district match since 2020 and did just that on Tuesday in the Class 3 District 6 tournament in Fulton against No. 4 seed Bowling Green, sweeping the Lady Bobcats 25-21, 25-19, 25-23. Mexico (7-18) lost to Bowling Green (7-14-3) in five sets earlier in the season but secured a win to advance to Thursday's semifinals when it plays No. 1 seed St. Francis Borgia (22-13-1) at 5 p.m. Unofficial stats for Mexico includes Camy Blackburn with five kills and three aces, Gwen Walker with four kills, and Julia Goerne with four kills and two blocks. Thursday will be Mexico's first meeting with St. Francis Borgia, who has 22 wins each of the past two years.
