There wasn't much on offense on Monday night, but Centralia had the big swinging.
Class 3 District 4 No. 2 seed and state No. 3 Centralia (28-6) defeated state and district No. 1 Chillicothe 2-0 in the Class 3 District 4 championship game in Mexico after all-state pitcher Jaylynn Brown hit a two-RBI home run in the seventh inning to secure Centralia's second district title in three years. Brown also struck out 12 and allowed two walks, one hit and one hit by pitch. Last year's state champion Chillicothe (29-3) countered with its all-state pitcher Landry Marsh, who struck out 14 and allowed two hits and two earned runs. The two baserunners Marsh allowed both were in the seventh inning on a Blakely VanDyke single and Brown home run. There were six baserunners in the game. Centralia notched its 19 shutout of the season while Chillicothe has 18 shutouts.
