A little love can go a long way.
The Mexico Activity and Nutrition Center hosted its annual “That’s Amore” party in celebration of Valentine’s Day on Feb. 13 where this year’s Senior Sweetie, Becky Smith, was crowned.
Every February, the center crowns its sweetie — someone to represent the Mexico Activity and Nutrition Center. There to crown Smith was Patricia McDonald, senior sweetie 2025, who volunteers in the kitchen at the center every single day.
The coronation happened after lunch — an Italian feast featuring spaghetti and meatballs, broccoli bake, fruit, garden salad, strawberry cake and homemade garlic bread. During the meal, Katie Shackelford entertained guests with some Shania Twain songs and other love ballads to get everyone in the Valentine’s spirit.
Special surprise Valentines were also awarded after the coronation. A gift basket for the longest marriage was given to Gail May, who has been married for 63 years, and a prize for the shortest engagement was awarded to Pauline Hahn who was engaged for only two weeks.
