R. J. Jason Johnson, 83, of Pell City, Ala., passed away on June 12, 2021 at St. Vincent’s East Hospital in Birmingham, Ala.
Private services will be held at a later date.
R.J. was born June 3,1938 in Audrain County, to Bob and Margaret (Freeman) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson graduated from Mexico High School in 1956. He married Barbara Rodibaugh on May 23, 1958 in Mexico. She preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 2019.
In 1966 he and his family moved to Alabama for his career with UPS. He retired from ACT Transportation in Anniston, Ala. After his retirement, he worked part time for the city of Pell City.
Mr. Johnson enjoyed NASCAR, working in his yard, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Johnson; two daughters, Julie Sanders (Ricky) and Jana Johnson (Randy Green); grandchildren, Kelsey Johnson (Niki), Allison Sanders, Jacob Sanders; great-grandchildren, Madison Underwood and Weston Johnson; sister, Sandy Black of Mexico; and nephew, Shayne Black of St. Louis.
In addition to his wife he was also preceded in death by his parents.
