Robert Lyndell Galloway, 93 of Centralia passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Family and friends are invited to Lyndell’s Life Celebration 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27  at Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home with burial with full military honors to follow in Glendale Memorial Gardens.

Lyndell was born on Oct. 22, 1930, in Ralls County, Missouri, the son of Lyle LeFever and Mary Esther (Rohr) Galloway.

Lyndell was a 1948 graduate of Van-Far High School. After high school, Lyndell served his country in the United States Navy from 1951-1953 during the Korean War, serving on the U.S.S. Brinkley Bass 887.

He was a lifelong farmer and road maintenance operator for the Audrain County Special Road District for 20 years. He enjoyed draft horses, horse pulling and sharing the gentle giants through community activities. He received the Centralia Agricultural Person of the Year Award, Missouri State Draft Association’s Lynch Pin Award, amongst many others. But most of all he enjoyed his family and friends.

Lyndell was a member of the Centralia United Methodist Church.

Lyndell is survived by his sister, Janice Naysmith of Laddonia; children, Vicki Kurtz (Dick) of Oregon, Mo., Janet Brown (Herb) of Centralia, Randell Galloway (Shonda) of Centralia, Laura Grathwohl of Boonville; grandchildren, Adam Brown (Monica) of Centralia, Adrienne Hoffstetter (Alex) of Elko, Nev., Sara Winters (Ryan) of New Haven, Natalie Meng of the U.K., Jill Griggs (Rusty) of Centralia, Ryan Galloway (Vanessa) of Montgomery City, Kimberly Fitzpatrick (Frank) of Lenexa, Kan., Jerred Robinson (Tricia) of Sturgeon, Thomas Grathwohl of Boonville, and Jessica Grathwohl of Boonville; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a special friend, Frieda Potts of Mexico. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Norma Galloway, Vandalia and  Val Galloway, Vandalia.

Lyndell was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Lois Fowler, Lloyd Galloway, Durward Galloway, JB Galloway, Joann Boyd, Ronald Galloway, Mary Sue Galloway, a daughter-in-law, Karen Galloway, a granddaughter, Jenny Brekhus.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home of Mexico, Activity Fund, or the Central Missouri Honor Flight, and may be sent in care of Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home 104 S. Collier St. Centralia, MO 65240.
