Roger Rosenthal, 75, of Mexico, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Arnold Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Stanford will be officiating the service.  Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday, October 25, at Arnold Funeral Home.

Roger was born on December 13, 1948 in Mexico, the son of Eldon and Peggy (Stephens) Rosenthal.  On November 28, 1985, he married Sara Anne Green at Sunrise Christian Church in Mexico. Sara preceded him in death on September 18, 2023.

Roger proudly served his country after being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he continued his life of service by joining Little Dixie Fire Department in February 1977. He began his firefighting career as a firefighter, was promoted to lieutenant in 1981, captain in 1983, and retired as assistant chief in 1995. His commitment to the community didn't stop there; he was elected to the Little Dixie Fire Board in 1996 and served until his passing.

In addition to his work with the fire department, Roger also served as a reserve sheriff’s deputy for Audrain County for many years, contributing to public safety and always ready to lend a hand where needed.

Outside of his professional commitments, Roger lived a life filled with passion for the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, and farming. In his younger years, he was involved in truck and tractor pulling and later cherished vacations to Nova Scotia, Canada.

Survivors include, three sons, Scott (Savannah) Saak of Montgomery City, Seth (Danielle) Rosenthal of Lebanon, Oregon and Mikel Rosenthal of Chicago; one daughter, Marika (Peter) Delan of Columbia; 11 grandchildren, Hailey and Laylah Rosenthal, Paige Hillebrand, Eric Saak, Levi Hogan, Brenden Garrett, Georgia, Hailey and Emma Shahan and Julian and Minnie Delan; three great-grandchildren, Bailey Hillebrand, Carter Hogan and Mark Andrew “Drew” Hogan.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Rosenthal; his parents, Eldon and Peggy Rosenthal; and one brother, Larry Rosenthal.
