Ruth Claire Patton, 87, of Mexico, died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at the King’s Daughters Home in Mexico, where she had resided the past six months.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, at St. Brendan Catholic Church with Fr. David Veit officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation is Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Arnold Funeral Home.

Ruth was born on October 22, 1935, in Martinsburg, the daughter of Fred Jacobi, Sr.  and Elizabeth (Kersting) Jacobi. On Nov. 17, 1956, she married Robert Lee Patton at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg.

Mrs. Patton worked for a short while at Florsheim Shoe Factory before she started having children. She became a fulltime homemaker raising six children and keeping “Bobby” in line. After “Bobby” passed away in 1997, she started going to garage sales and auctions! Sometimes she was called the “garage sale queen” and boy did she enjoy a bargain!

Ruth was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg and St. Brendan Catholic Church in Mexico. She loved her God, praying the rosary daily, and her family, especially all her loving grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include six children, Rick (Jan) Patton, Paula (Tom) Barnett, Tim Patton, Tony Patton, Teresa (Charlie) Vogt, Shawn (Kerry) Patton, all of Mexico; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy (Rachel) Patton, Dustin (Colleen) Patton, Emily (Kit) Barnett-Doyle, Brandon (Joni) Barnett, Jason Patton, Carina (Casey) Patton, Erica (Thomas) Nemec, Megan Vogt, Sadie (Tyler) Roberts and Dylan Patton; 14 great-grandchildren, Jordain, Lani, Adyson and Mason Barnett, Ginn and Clara Doyle, Mira Patton, Remy and Mia Patton, Lakyn Schutterle, Keaton and Kendall Roberts, Jesse Early and Lillie Ann Nemec; three siblings, Fred Jacobi of Mexico, Josephine Lauhoff of Brookfield, and George Jacobi of Wellsville; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Curt and Marilyn Jung and Carol Patton Scherer Ragle.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 8, 1997; four sisters, Jane Plant, Patsy Tunney, Kathleen Fennewald and Mary Dorothy Jacobi; and one daughter-in-law, Laura Patton.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Brendan Catholic Church or the King’s Daughters Home. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson Street, Mexico, MO 65265.
