Visitors to Eugene Field Elementary School will have to find a new place to park if they use the south side of Boulevard Street.
The Mexico City Council approved a change to the parking on Boulevard Street between West Street and Grove Street. Currently, there is 10-minute parking but the school district is concerned about congestion in the area that sometimes blocks Grove Street.
City Public Works Director Drew Williford presented the issue to the council. He said parking will change to handicapped parking only and city crews will begin stripping the area soon. He said this stretch of road was the last 10-minute parking area left in the city.
Williford said the school requested handicapped parking because that area is the closest and easiest way for handicapped folks to enter the building.
The location to enter the building is the most accessible point on the north side.,” Williford said. “This would actually serve to help a few different items all at one time.”
