The North Callaway Thunderbirds dominated the Fayette Falcons Monday night, unleashing a 27-8 opening quarter and continuing the scoring onslaught for a 79-34 victory. Callaway was shorthanded and four junior varsity players dressed out for the first time in their varsity careers.
Sophomore Sam Pezold had a career high 33 points, hitting seven three-pointers (7-for-12) - all of which came in the first half. Junior Matthew Weber contributed 28 points to the cause, shooting 60 percent from behind the arc (6-for-10).
While Pezold and Weber shouldered the bulk of the point production, their success was the product of the collective.
“It was a great unselfish team effort,” said coach Matt Miller.
Also finishing in double-digits was sophomore Isiah Craighead, who had 12 points (5-for-8 from the field).
