Some Community R-6 track and field athletes were in top-10 shape on Thursday.
Several Trojans finished in the top 10 of their respective events while a quartet finished fourth out of eight schools in the boys 4x100-meter relay in the Monroe City High School Invitational.
Lane Carter, Ayden Miranda, Ean Johnson and Aaron Carter were fourth in the 4x100 relay with a time of 49.81, which was behind Mark Twain’s mark 48.09.
Among other Community boys in the top 10 of events were Gavin Allen in the javelin at seventh, Aaron Carter in the shot put at seventh, Brant Cope at ninth in the discus, and Lane Carter at 10th in the 100-meter dash.
For the girls, Adriana Woodson picked up a pair of sixth-place finishes in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles. Chloe Johnson was ninth in the javelin.
Paris’ Kinnaman wins 3200 in Monroe City
Mairyn Kinnaman was a champion on Thursday for Paris and almost a two-time champion.
Kinnaman won the 3,200-meter run and finished second in the 1,600-meter run to account for a couple of Paris’ nine top-three finishes at the Monroe City High School Invitational.
In the 3200, Kinnaman won by almost a minute at a time of 13:33 while she was just behind Monroe City’s Ella Hays in the 1600, finishing with a time of 6:21 compared to a 6:19.
For the boys, Landen Chapman was the runner-up in the 3,200-meter run, Mason Edwards was third in the 400-meter dash and the high jump, and Drew Williams finished third in the 800-meter run.
The 4x800 relay team of Clayton Duncan, Brayden DeOrnellas, Williams and Chapman was the runner-up, and the 4x200 relay team of Edwards, Evan Smothers, Payden Crain and Brady Shivers finished third.
