TRACK ROUNDUP: Van-Far’s Gibson wins 300 hurdles in Bowling Green

The Van-Far junior won the 300-meter hurdles at the Bowling Green Mini-Medal Meet to lead the Indians’ efforts.

The girls’ 4x800-meter relay team finished third for the girls’ best finish as Brooklyn Foreman in the 800-meter run and McKenna Engh-Hoffman in the 100-meter hurdles each took fifth.

Gibson also had the next best boys finish with his sixth place in the long jump, and Jackson Fischer was seventh in the discus.

DiSalvo wins the 300 hurdles for Community R-6 at Cairo

Victoria DiSalvo had the edge in the hurdles on Tuesday.

The Community R-6 senior won the 300-meter hurdles at the Cairo High School Relays while taking fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. 

Several other Lady Trojans finished fourth in their respective events including Adriana Woodson in the 300 hurdles, Brooklynn Glasgow in the discus and Ivy Hays in the javelin.

For the boys, Aaron Carter had the highest finish with a fifth place in the shot put.

Trojans come close to top three at Bowling Green meet

There were several Community R-6 athletes that made a solid effort to be top three on Wednesday.

At the Bowling Green Mini-Medal Meet, the Trojans and Lady Trojans had several finish close to top five and even top three.

For the girls, Brooklynn Glasgow had Community’s best finish for the day by taking fourth in the discus. Adriana Woodson was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles.

On the boys’ side, Aaron Carter performed best for the Trojans as he finished sixth in the shot put.

Centralia wins Fatima Rick Buersmeyer Invitational

Coming off winning its home event, the Panthers and Lady Panthers took that same success to Westphalia.

The boys and girls each won the Fatima Rick Buersmeyer Invitational on Monday by scoring 167 and 206 points, respectively, and finishing atop the podium 19 times. The runners-up were Hermann at 90 points in the girls competition and Steelville at 128.5 points in the boys competition. 

For the girls, Jozelynn Bostick swept the distance races in the 800-, 1,600 and 3,200-meter run and helped Centralia sweep the girls relays with a victory in the 4x800-meter relay. Bostick teamed with Kenedee Moss, Rebecca Erisman and Annie Robinson in the win.

In the other girls’ relays, Erisman, Olivia Adams, Tilly Fox and Kaelyn Walters won the 4x100, Walters, Shelby Lewis, Autumn Hawkins and Harper Sontheimer were victorious in the 4x200, and Adams, Sontheimer, Robinson and Lewis won the 4x400.

Lewis was a multi-individual winner in the 200- and 400-meter dash, Hawkins won the long jump, Kaylie Ensor took first in the pole vault, and Sontheimer won the 300-meter hurdles.

Finishing second were Walters in the 100, Erisman in the long jump and the 300 hurdles, Cora King in the shot put, and Sontheimer in the 110 hurdles. Taking third were Moss in the 800 and the 1600 and Rylee Palmer in the 3200.

On the boys side, Cayden Dunn was a multi-winner in the 110- and the 300-hurdles and was also part of the winning 4x200 relay team with Jesse Caballero, Jacob Beard and Logan Rosenfelder. The other boys relay to win were the 4x100 team of Caballero, Beard, Ben Romine and Breylen Whisler and the 4x800 team of JR Lesher, Dryst Bostick, Rohan Holiman and Landon Moss.

Among the other boys winners were Lesher in the 3,200-meter run and Payton Mabrey in the shot put. Lesher also led the second-place finishers as he was the runner-up in the 1600.

Also in second were Jameson Cooper in the discus, Holiman in the 800 and Bostick finished behind Lesher in the 3200. Taking third were Whisler in the long jump, Rosenfelder in the triple jump, Beard in the pole vault, Evan Brumback in the shot put, and the 4x400 team of Dunn, Holiman, Andrew Whitlatch and Shane Mitchell.

North Callaway’s Rohrbach wins shot put in Bowling Green

Caleb Rohrbach’s strength led North Callaway on Wednesday at the Bowling Green Mini-Medal Meet.

The senior won the shot put to be one of three top-three finishes for the boys and one of six overall for the Thunderbirds.

Gavin Rasmussen finished second in the 400-meter dash, and Carson Safranski was third in the pole vault to round out the boys’ top performances.

For the girls, Corynne Miller in the 200-meter dash, Pressley Schmauch in the 800-meter run and Ellie Bedsworth in the shot put all finished third for North Callaway.

Each team finished sixth in the team standings as the boys had 65.5 points amongst the 11 schools while the girls finished with 55 points in the 12-team field.

Paris boys in top 3, girls top 5 at Cairo meet

The Paris track teams performed well as a team on Tuesday.

The Coyotes finished third out of eight teams with 94 points while the girls took fifth out of nine schools with 79.5 points on Tuesday at the Cairo High School Relays. Paris finished with four gold medals and had 12 top-three finishes.

Drew Williams and Landen Chapman each doubled up on wins as both were part of the 4x800-meter relay team with Clayton Duncan and Brayden DeOrnellas. Williams won the 800-meter run and Chapman took the 3,200-meter run. 

Chapman in the 1600 finished second while DeOrnellas in the 800 was third.

For the girls, the 4x800 relay team of Sophia Crusha, Mairyn Kinnaman, Emma Ashenfelter and Alexandra Tullius won its event. As individuals, the quartet performed well as Crusha was second in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles, Kinnaman finished second in the 1600 and 3200, Tullius took third in the 3200, and Ashenfelter finished second in the 800.
