The Trojans jumped out to an early lead, fell behind and then climbed back on top before finally falling 16-14 to South Callaway in a roller coaster of a home opener on Friday.
The game's offensive tone was established in the first inning. The visitors pushed three runs across and Community responded with four. Another score in the bottom of the first gave the Trojans a 5-3 advantage.
But South Callaway's bats reignited in the third. They scored four times and followed up with two more in the fourth to go out in front 9-8.
Sarah Angel swung momentum back in Community's favor. Her fifth inning homer fueled a four run rally. Once again the Trojans held the lead, 12-10.
Angel hammered another round tripper in the sixth. By then, however, the visitors had the advantage. They pounded out five runs in the top of the inning and seven more in the final frame.
A late Community rally fell just short.
The Trojans traveled to Glasgow on Monday evening.
