Alexis Welch made Marion County pay dearly for a mistake.
In the 10th frame of a tense extra inning affair at Community, the Trojans' Olivia Kuda reached on an infield error, racing all the way to third. Welch then struck the second pitch on the line to left for a 4-3 win.
The walk off base hit ended what had been an even battle. It was scoreless until the sixth, when Marion County plated two and the Trojans responded with one.
In the seventh, the visitors squeezed out another run to take a 3-1 lead.
Rylee Rafferty singled in the bottom half, but she was still on base with two out. While the outlook wasn't brilliant for R-6, it improved when Shelby Clark smacked an infield hit, moving Rafferty to scoring position.
Sarah Angel drove a single to center, sending Rafferty home and Clark to third on the throw. It was now 3-2.
But Olivia Schafer fouled the first pitch and missed the next to go in the hole 0-2. No matter, Schafer drilled the following delivery to center, sending the game into extra innings.
Angel and Welch each clubbed 2 hits. Angel also reached twice on walks.
Lydia Forbis got the win for Community.
