On Friday, October 9, the community will come together for the 10th Annual Tyronn Lue Community Day of Service.
Throughout the day, students across the community will be giving back in honor of Mexico native and LA Clippers Head Coach Tyronn Lue. Mexico Public Schools students will all participate in service projects. This day was never intended to be just about Mexico’s schools. It is an opportunity for the entire community to come together and serve.
The Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce has asked local businesses, families and individuals to volunteer their time in a news release issued by the chamber.
“The best way we can honor Coach Lue and his continued investment in Mexico, especially our kids, is to follow his example and give back,” the release stated. “Just as importantly, when our young people see adults throughout the community serving alongside them, we reinforce the message that taking care of our community is something we all share responsibility for.”
Below are several ideas to help community members find a way to participate.
Projects can be registered with the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce so it can help tell the story of Mexico’s community serving together. On Oct. 9, photos and stories on social media can be shared using #TyLueServes26.
