For the second year in a row, Ty-Land became a mini-North Pole. Volunteers, going around like elves wrapping the hundreds of presents that were purchased for Tyronn Lue’s Secret Santa.
Lue, a native Mexico and head coach of Los Angeles Clippers, has a heart for youth. He was raised a Christian, and like many celebrates the love God showed in sending His Son. However, he also knows how magical Christmas is for youth around the world—regardless of their beliefs. So helping families with Christmas, is one of the way that Lue shows love to his hometown.
Dr. Ayanna Shivers, founder of Anointed Life Saving Ministries, heads the operation for Lue. Last year, it started with Secret Santa through the Mexico Housing Authority. This year it expanded to include assisting with the Star Tree sponsored by the Help Center, students identified through the schools, and residents at a local nursing home.
Thanks to Lue’s generosity, and the help of some amazing volunteers who donated several hours of their time, smiles will be on more than 180 faces on Christmas morning.
