The Van-Far baseball team just didn't have enough on Monday night.
The Indians trailed Calvary Lutheran 8-2 in Jefferson City going into the seventh inning and responded by scoring three runs but ultimately fell 8-5 with the tying run at the plate.
Nikos Connaway and Reece Culwell each drove in a run after Jacob Radmacher and Dalana Gay drew walks. Gibson Condie, who had an RBI earlier in the game, drew a walk to bring the tying run to the plate twice. A pair of strikeouts ended the game.
Calvary Lutheran scored three runs in the sixth inning to give it just enough insurance to win the game. Culwell was taken off the mound after allowing the extra runs, finishing his day with seven strikeouts, seven hits, five earned runs and five walks in 5 1/3 innings. Connaway pitched the final two-thirds.
Connaway and Condie each went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Culwell and Ryan Null each picked up an RBI.
Van-Far is scheduled to host Hermann on Monday.
