Van-Far had a weekend break for its Eastern Missouri Conference game at Wellsville-Middletown.
Bad weather Friday stopped the game as the Indians trailed Wellsville 4-0. After play resumed Monday, Van-Far completed the seven innings only to lose 4-1 for its fourth loss in as many games.
Through two days, the teams combined for five hits against Van-Far’s Reece Culwell and Wellsville’s Mason Guzy. Culwell recorded 11 strikeouts and two earned runs in six innings while Guzy had 13 strikeouts in seven innings.
Wellsville (3-1, 3-1 EMO) was able to plate runs early against Culwell as it scored all four runs in the first two innings on Friday. A sacrifice fly crossed in the first inning and then three two-out runs scored in the second.
The Indians (0-4, 0-2 EMO) manufactured a run in the fifth inning with a leadoff walk to and one of two steals by Cody Smith, a bunt single by Ryan Null — who went 2-for-3 — and a RBI groundout by Bransen Salmon.
Van-Far is scheduled to host Community R-6 (3-1) at 5 p.m. Thursday.
