It was two games and out for Van-Far softball on Saturday.
On the first day of the season, the Lady Indians lost both games they played in the Hallsville Invitational to be eliminated early. Van-Far lost 11-1 to reigning district champion and eventual tournament champion Hallsville and then 15-0 to reigning district champion Salisbury.
Van-Far finished with three hits in five innings against Hallsville, striking out 13 times against Brianne Wildenhain. Elliott Utterback went 2-for-2 and hit a solo home run in the third inning to make it 7-1 at the time.
The Lady Indians lost in four innings to Salisbury and were no-hit by Grace Gebhardt, who recorded nine strikeouts.
Van-Far opens its home and Eastern Missouri Conference schedule against North Callaway, who went 1-2 in the same tournament, at 5 p.m. Thursday.
