Van-Far golf keeps early winning ways alive
Van-Far golf went back-to-back this week.
The Indians won meets at Louisiana and at home on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, to follow a win earlier this season at Montgomery County.
Van-Far defeated Louisiana, Silex, Bowling Green and Clopton on Wednesday and then shot better than Montgomery County, Silex and Bowling Green in the Indians’ home quad.
Returning state qualifier Pacey Reading was the meet medalist in Louisiana and at home. Reading shot a 42 on Wednesday and then paced the Indians on Thursday, shooting a 46 along with Nikos Connaway and Kaleb Baskett.

Indians can't stop North Callaway in 11-5 five-inning loss
It was a struggle from start to finish for Van-Far on Thursday.
The Indians lost 11-1 in five innings at Eastern Missouri Conference foe North Callaway, allowing five runs in the first and third innings.
Only one run allowed by Gibson Condie and Gage Gibson was recorded as unearned as North Callaway (3-3, 2-0 EMO) finished with 18 hits and nine steals.
Gibson had a hit and scored a run in the fourth inning when he stole home. Reece Culwell and Carson Huff each had a double for Van-Far (2-3, 0-1 EMO).
Keaton Bell pitched three innings for North Callaway and had five strikeouts, three hits and one walk. Kyle Pennell led the Thunderbirds in hitting by going 3-for-3 with three RBI.
Van-Far hosts conference foe Wellsville-Middletown (0-3, 0-1 EMO) at 5 p.m. today in its third game in three days.
Van-Far outscored in big inning in 11-5 loss at Hermann
Van-Far was feeling good after scoring five runs in the fifth inning on Wednesday night.
Then, Hermann answered with eight runs in the bottom half of the inning to eventually give Van-Far an 11-5 loss. The Indians were helped by two errors in their offensive half of the fifth, but then Hermann (2-4) kept the line moving in theirs.
Reece Culwell pitched 2 2/3 innings for Van-Far while allowing two unearned runs on one hit and striking out two. Gibson Condie took over and then Tyson Douglas relieved him in the middle of the fifth inning.
The Bearcats finished with seven hits in the fifth along with two walks and a hit by pitch.
Van-Far's five-run fifth included a two-RBI single from Douglas and two balls that preceded errors and then runs for the Indians. Condie also had two RBI for Van-Far.
