A new date for when utility bills are due for Vandalia residents has been approved by the Vandalia Board of Alderman.
The previous due date was the 10th of each month that is now moving to the 15th. During the board of alderman meeting that took place on Tuesday, October 11, Vandalia City Administrator Darren Berry said "the move would fit peoples pay schedules better.
The bills will still be mailed out on the 1st of the month. They will no longer be mailing the delinquent notices that come on a little red card. The cards they receive will have the penalties on those now." The change will take place immediately.
Drive-Thru and Drive-Up Window Construction At Vandalia City Hall
An expansion of the drive-up window and drive-thru at the Vandalia City Hall was also approved during the Board of Alderman's meeting.
The need for the expansion came about when the new window was installed and did not reach out far enough.
Customers were having to get out of their cars and it made it burdensome for some elderly residents.
The expansion will make the window closer to the building, and make the exit wider and easier to use.
The project has already started and the area will be shutdown while the project is ongoing.
The cost will not exceed three thousand dollars. It will be paid for out of the undetermined council approved projects fund.
The window expansion is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
