The Audrain County Historical Society and the City of Mexico Tourism Commission will host the 17th annual Walk Back in Time and Missouri’s Bicentennial Friday, Sept. 24, through Sunday Sept. 26, on the Audrain Historical Museum Complex Grounds, 501 Muldrow, Mexico.

Everyone’s invited to attend Walk Back in Time to celebrate the bicentennial with a wide variety of offerings and attractions, including a full-scale 55-foot keelboat like the one used by Lewis and Clark’s expedition. The Lewis and Clark encampment will include tents full of informative displays, such as fur and pelts, weaponry, uniforms, period clothing, maps, navigation tools, foodstuffs and more. Viewing platforms will allow guests to examine over the bow of each ship.

Also celebrated will be 100 years of women’s suffrage and the 19th Amendment ratification and 400 years of the Mayflower’s departure from England.

This year Dr. Curt Fields, Ulysses S. Grant reenactor known all over the U.S. — and YouTube — will be on hand. Dr. Fields is an expert on all things Grant. He will help kick off the festival with a Friday evening performance, followed by Saturday and Sunday speeches and encampment on the grounds.

Also new on the grounds will be two World War I biplane replicas- a French Nieuport and German Fokker - provided by Dick Hartzler and Darrell Porter of Grandview.
