Barbara Hoff Wilson addresses the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce dinner crowd Friday night. Wilson was recipient of the Colonel C.R. Stribling Community Service Award presented at the dinner. Her acceptance gave credit to everyone but herself, a true measure of a humble servant, and leader. "You all know I love this community, and it's not the houses, the buildings, the streets,” she said. “What makes this community special are the people. The people in this community are driven to make things better. Even when things take a downturn, people still have a positive attitude and that's what makes this community what it is, a great place to live, work and play.” The Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting, Awards Presentation, Dinner and Auction was held Friday, Feb. 16 at the Audrain County 4-H Building. Additional honorees are: G. Andy Runge Ambassador, Clarissa Cauthorn; Civic Award, Audrain County Historical Society History Camp; Philanthropic Achievement, Knights of Columbus; Excellence in Tourism, Walk Back in Time; Educator of the Year, Jessica Brown; President’s Award, Brad Walker.Look to next week’s Ledger for more highlights.
