She is the cream of the crop, the best of the best. Kylie Yeast is a 2019 graduate of Mexico High School and currently a senior at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO and a finalist in the Irene Ryan Scholarship competition.
Kylie emerged as one of eight finalists who competed against hundreds of students from around the Midwest this past week at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Des Moines, Iowa.
Kylie delivered her scholarship-winning performance on Friday, Jan. 27.
"I am thankful for the support from the Mexico, SBU, and theatre communities and everyone in-between. My amazing scene partner, Miriam Mattsfield, professor Jonathan Wehmeyer and I will head to DC in April to be one of EIGHT performing at the Kennedy Center at the National American College Theatre Festival," said Yeast in a social media post.
While at the National Festival, Yeast will attend master classes and discussions with professional theatre artists, attend concert readings of award-winning plays, and visit D.C. theatres.
