She admitted to being a little nervous heading into her reading at the Mexico-Audrain County Library District Saturday, but local author Kim Lue knocked it out of the park.
Reading from her recently released memoir, “God’s Revelation of My Genesis: Why Me?” Lue shared excerpts to about 30 people in attendance about her childhood traumas and how she overcame them.
“I thought it was fantastic and well received,” Lue said. “Some people were iffy about it, but I thought it went well. The nerves did eventually go away: It was my first rodeo.
“When the Holy Spirit kicks in, it takes that all away.”
Lue said her reading saw some positive reactions to her words and a handful shared some of their experiences that had similarities.
“They were really happy that I came out with it because they were not bold enough to do it,” Lue said. “I wasn’t bold at first. It took me a minute; it took me 10-12 years to write it.”
Lue read for an hour and then answered questions from the audience and indulged in some socialization.
