Mexico walk off Hannibal to win 6-5 at home
A home victory has been elusive for Mexico.
The Bulldogs won their home opener this season before losing six straight on their home field but ended that streak with a 6-5 walk-off win over North Central Missouri Conference foe Hannibal (7-11, 2-4 NCMC). Before anybody could be retired in the seventh inning, Kaden Benne drew a bases-loaded walk and then Brady Fox hit a two-RBI single to erase a 5-3 deficit.
Mexico (12-9, 2-4 NCMC) had its Nos. 4-6 spots in the order account for five RBI and the top three hitters finish 6-for-12 with four runs scored to redeem itself for a 3-1 loss in Hannibal earlier this season. Drew DeMint went 3-or-4 with one RBI, Fox finished with two RBI, Benne and Landon Hilderman each had one RBI, and Sam Ryan, Austin Maxwell and Jaydon Eldridge each went 2-for-4.
Eldridge pitched 6 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts, eight hits, five runs and three walks.
Hannibal finished with five doubles and Azariah Tucker went 2-for-3 with four RBI for the Pirates.
Mexico plays at conference foe Kirksville (6-9, 4-4 NCMC) at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Gibson Condie and Garrett Hopke each had a hit for Van-Far. Condie scored the only Indian run on an error after leading off the fifth inning with a triple.
Chase Queathem went 3-for-3 with two RBI and a double for Montgomery County (9-4, 4-1 EMO), and Jackson Benney hit a solo home run.
Van-Far hosts conference foe Bowling Green (1-9, 1-3 EMO) at 5 p.m. Thursday.
