Peyton Beamer was a leader on the court for the Lady Trojans.
The Community R-6 senior finished an all-conference, all-district and all-state season as the team’s point guard and will be playing in college at Westminster College in Fulton. Beamer held her signing ceremony on May 13 at Community R-6 High School.
Beamer averaged 15.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 steals this season for the 15-13 Lady Trojans, who played in their district championship game in four years. They won a district title when Beamer was a freshman.
Head coach Bob Curtis said Beamer is someone with a “quick release” that is effective from long range. She hit seven 3-pointers in a game this season. However, Curtis said there are plenty of reasons why Beamer was named a Class 1 state player.
“Peyton has always been a shifty dribbler, great passer, and has a motor that won't stop for 32 minutes,” Curtis said. “In her senior season, she became a really good defender as she had a very disruptive average of 3.1 steals per game. Defense separates players at the college level and she has really made that side of the ball a priority. Westminster is getting a winner that will put the work in to help her team win.”
