Carlson selected as Cattleman of the Year

Posted

The Missouri State Cattlemens annual meeting was held at the Lake of the Ozarks at Margaritaville during the weekend of Jan. 6 through 8.

Mexico resident Teresa Carlson was recognized because of her commitment to the cattlemen industry and the continuous work she does for the promotion of beef. Carlson worked for MFA for 39 years as a livestock specialist was beef was her main thing. She is the chair of the Missouri Cattlemens Foundation and has been for a number of years. Part of that is being connected with the foundation out of Kansas City. Empowering youth is a main theme for Carlson.

"We have a fund set up to where if children are injured on the farm they get help out with wheelchairs and other needs," said Carlson.

She also runs the ever popular Carlson House in Mexico. "I bought in 2015, and we rent out rooms and can seat up to 60 people. The main request for dinner is steaks, and prime rib," said Carlson.

Over $30,000 in youth scholarships were given out at the Missouri State Cattlemens annual meeting over the weekend.
