While Centralia’s football season was full of injuries, it also had plenty of wins and all-conference players.
The seven-win Panthers had offensive lineman Tilmon Sontheimer, linebacker Louis Suddarth, tight end Anthony Ford, defensive lineman Ian Tuggle and defensive back Elliott McCoy as first team members in the Clarence Cannon Conference. Tuggle was a member of the second team as an offensive lineman along with running back Ethan Ross, defensive end Jameson Cooper and defensive back Luke Waltemate. Cooper was an honorable mention offensive lineman and Deke Maenner was an honorable mention linebacker.
As a senior, the NEMO Pressbox Stars Football team member Tuggle had 64 tackles, 55 solo tackles, 14 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and 17 quarterback knockdowns. Tuggle and Cooper were on the offensive line with NEMO Pressbox team member Sontheimer, who head coach Tyler Forsee said was the best offensive lineman. The unanimous selection Sontheimer and the others blocked for an offense that ran for more than 3,500 yards.
Ford had eight catches for 285 yards and one touchdown and was a part of the blocking effort along with the offensive line.
Suddarth finished with 87 total tackles, 69 solo tackles, five tackles for loss, four pass break-ups, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one tackle. Maenner had 38 tackles and 10 solo tackles.
On defense, Cooper had 51 total tackles, 40 solo tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Waltemate had 38 tackles, 28 solo tackles, four tackles for loss, nine pass break-ups, two interceptions and one fumble recovery. McCoy had 26 tackles, 16 solo tackles, five pass break-ups and two interceptions.
Ross became the primary running back after many backfield injuries and finished with 986 yards and 13 touchdowns on 104 carries, averaging 9.5 yards per carry. He only played in seven games.
For the Central Media all-district, Sontheimer was a first offensive lineman, Tuggle was a first team defensive lineman, Waltemate was a first team defensive back, Ross was a second team running back, Ford was a second team wide receiver/tight end, Cooper was a second team defensive lineman.
