Centralia girls rain down 3-pointers to defeat Hallsville 58-25

The Centralia girls were feeling it from the perimeter on Monday.

The Lady Panthers opened their home Centralia Invitational tournament in a resounding way by defeating rival Hallsville 58-25. Six Lady Panthers had two or more 3-pointers in the game.

Braylin Brunkhorst led Centralia (4-0) for the third straight game with 20 points, Brooklyn Hardin followed with 11 points and Ealynne Bostick finished with 10 points.

The Lady Panthers led Hallsville (0-3) 27-15 at halftime.

Centralia plays Father Tolton (2-3) in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

North Callaway girls buried by Tolton 3s, first quarter in 57-33 loss

The North Callaway girls couldn’t recover after a bad first quarter on Monday.

Father Tolton couldn’t miss as it started the Centralia Invitational first-round game with nine of its first 11 buckets being 3-pointers, and North Callaway lost 57-33. The Ladybirds trailed 23-9 after the first quarter.

Head coach Andrew Klein said only seven players were available to varsity on Monday since six had to be sent over to a junior varsity game at home against Centralia. Sadie Sexuaer scored 14 of her 17 points in the first quarter and finished with four 3-pointers in the game for Tolton (2-3).

North Callaway (1-3) was 2-for-19 on 3-point attempts and had a double-digit scoring game from Lakyn Hartley. She finished with 13 points against girls she plays with in summer travel ball.

North Callaway plays Hallsville (0-3) at 9 p.m. Wednesday in the consolation bracket.
