This time, Centralia sent Macon home.
The Lady Panthers went from a first-round exit after a 3-2 loss to Clarence Cannon Conference fo Macon last season to a 9-0 shutout victory in Monday’s Class 3 District 4 championship game at Southern Boone in Ashland. State No. 1 Centralia wins its first district title since 2020 after Jaylynn Brown no-hit the Tigerettes while striking out 16 of them in seven innings.
Macon was only reaching base via four walks, but Centralia wore out the bases in the second inning. The Lady Panthers scored seven runs to give their star pitcher plenty of a cushion.
Kassena Ridgel started the inning with a single and had a RBI double near the end of the 11-batter frame. The first seven Lady Panthers reached base, thanks partly to a dropped sacrifice fly on Madi Johnson’s fly ball. Ealynne Bostick had a RBI double in the next at-bat.
Bostick finished 3-for-4 with four RBI, Madi Johnson went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a solo home run in the sixth inning, and Ridgel was 2-for-4 with one RBI. Cora King had a RBI double in the sixth inning.
Centralia will host District 3 champion and state No. 8 Winfield (23-5) in a quarterfinals game at 4 p.m. Saturday.
