After an eventful season, five Centralia runners competed on the national stage.
Ethan Ross, Nolan Spickert, Dryst Bostick, Carter Moss and Wesley Robertson each achieved all-state status at the MSHSAA Class 3 Championships and competed June 19-21 at Nike Outdoor Nationals at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. They each had qualifying times to earn the opportunity to compete at nationals, making them the first athletes to make nationals during Centralia head coach Ben Sontheimer’s tenure.
Ross, who is the school record holder in all three dash events, medaled in the 100 and 400 at state and finished 36th out of 93 at nationals with a time of 11:10.
Spickert, who is the school record holder in the 1600 and 3200, medaled in the 1600, 3200 and 4x800 relay at state and finished 15th out of 70 at nationals in the freshman 1600 with a time of 4:25.83.
Spickert, Bostick, Moss and Robertson broke the school record and finished second in the 4x800 relay at state and then were 21st out of 36 teams with a time of 8:08.87 at nationals.
