Community R-6 boys struggle to prepare for Clopton in home loss

It might have been during the school’s holiday break, but the Community R-6 boys had a game.

The Trojans hosted Clopton in an afternoon matinee that ended in a 62-14 loss.
Head coach Tad Shotten said Community was missing key players, which wasn’t a good mix considering Clopton was 7-2 going into the contest.

“We knew that they were a good team and well-coached,” Shotten said. “It was tough for us as we were missing key guys. In games like that, you have to hope that someone steps up and can contribute. Practice over break was tough to get all my guys there to practice together, and then when you add in some sickness, it really hurts your preparation. We weren’t ready to play and it showed.”

Community R-6 (4-6) began the New Franklin Basketball Tournament as the No. 6 seed Tuesday against No. 3 Sweet Springs. The Trojans play again in the tournament on Thursday.
