For the 13th straight season, the Community R-6 girls finished with a winning record.
The Lady Trojans owned a 17-11 record in their second straight year being eliminated by Higbee in the district semifinals but had several girls post award-worthy seasons. Peyton Beamer and Aaliyah Welch were each named first team all-Central Activities Conference and all-district in Class 1 District 9 and Jocelyn Curtis was selected as an all-conference honorable mention.
Beamer averaged 14.7 points per game, 3.3 steals and 38 percent shooting as Community’s point guard. She had a couple of good post options to distribute the ball.
Welch averaged 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 38 percent shooting, and Curtis averaged 8.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 62 percent free-throw shooting and 40 percent shooting. The pair each recorded double-doubles or came close to double-doubles many times this season.
