The Community R-6 girls played in a fitting way before Thanksgiving.
The Lady Trojans (1-0) had 10 girls score in a 57-17 season-opening win over North MO Homeschool Association (0-1) in the Gary Filbert Classic in Mexico on Saturday.
“We are definitely deeper this season and are looking forward to the second game (Nov. 24 at Wellsville-Middletown),” head coach Bob Curtis said. “We have good veteran leadership, and that will carry us until we really have more practice time together to get the freshmen acclimated."
Peyton Beamer earned the player of the game award after finishing with 20 points, six assists and four steals. Jocelyn Curtis followed with eight points and eight rebounds, Myla Carroll and Kat Meyer each had seven points, Adriana Woodson had six points, and Kaytlynn Arens had five points.
