It takes certain types of players to win over 20 games and make it to a district championship game.

The Lady Trojans did each of those things this season thanks largely to four postseason award winners. Amy McCurdy was named a second team all-state, first team all-CAC, first team all-district infield, and first-team all-region infield, Jocelyn Curtis was named first team all-Central Activities Conference, first team all-district pitcher, and first team all-region at large; Chloe Johnson was named an honorable mention all-CAC, first team all-district outfield, and second team all-region outfield; and Lydia Hoyt was named first team all-district outfield.

Curtis led the team in slugging percentage at .604 and tied for the lead in doubles along with the senior McCurdy at 13 doubles. On offense, Curtis also had a .446 batting average, a .517 on-base percentage and 28 RBI. As a pitcher, Curtis finished with a 2.72 ERA, 129 strikeouts, 48 walks and a 14-9 record in 144 innings.

“She has been a leader on our team both offensively and defensively this season,” head coach Kendra Murphy said. “She has given our offense a chance to win more games than we have.”

McCurdy led the team with a .464 average, a .524 on-base, 30 RBI and a 1.122 OPS and tied for the runs lead along with Peyton Schafer with 42.

“She has been bounced back and forth between third base and second base depending on who is pitching,” Murphy said. “She has done a tremendous job this season stepping up and being a solid defender on top of being a huge offensive threat.”

Johnson finished with a .382 average, a .500 on-base, 28 RBI and 11 stolen bases.

“Chloe is our leader in the outfield,” Murphy said. “She is finding her feet in centerfield this year and is learning how to be aware of more people than just herself.”

Hoyt finished with a .363 average, a .416 on-base, 28 runs, 20 RBI and 19 stolen bases, which was second only to Rylee Rafferty’s 20 bags.

“Lydia has stepped up big time as a sophomore and filled a huge vacancy in the outfield for us,” Murphy said. “She plays like an upperclassman and is a leader on the field. She hits behind two of our big hitters and has done a great job this season of collecting her own hits and driving in runs.”
