Head coach Dale Schenewerk and his nationally ranked team finished tops in the 2023 PAWS Tournament that took place in Palmyra, on Sunday, Feb. 5.
The A-team (varsity) went 11-0 to sweep the competition including defeating Moberly not once, but twice and Piasa (a top five Illinois team) a total of three times.
MHS sophomore Camden Williams continued to shine and was the tournament's second top scorer.
The rest of the A-team members are captain Jamison Jeffries, Christina Frederickson, Dylan Reid and Meredith Harter.
The B-team had a nice showing in the tournament as well, winning four games in a row.
"The B-team went 5 - 4 overall, continuing to show their progress as a team full of first year players," said head coach Dale Schenewerk.
B-team members are Drake-Holloway, Alexia Femrite, Jude Yancey, Zellen Duncan and Brandon Ballard.
The A-team will be competing next at Washington University on February 18th. The Mexico High School High Academic Team is currently ranked 44th in the national rankings.
