Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Sharp

Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Sharp, 75, of Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, at his home.

Graveside services were Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown with Terry Mackey officiating.

Jerry was born on April 4, 1946, in Mexico, the son of Jacob Crum and Susan Marie (Wilson) Sharp. On Aug. 11, 1967, in Mexico, he married Sharon Kay Moore.

Mr. Sharp was a 1964 graduate of Mexico High School. He had worked for National Refractories and Audrain Medical Center.

Jerry was a member of the Benton City Christian Church and had coached Little League in Laddonia. He served as Sheriff in Benton City and had been a 4-H Outdoorsman Leader. Baseball, golf, fishing, hunting and square dancing were a few enjoyments to him.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of the home; three children, Troy D. (Keyla) Sharp, Ron M. (Carol) Sharp and Cheryl K. (Candi) Sharp; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Edward) Paker, Jacqueline Sharp, Peyton (Ricky) Sharp, Amy (Connor) Doyel, Kelsey Sharp, Phillip Nichols, Alex Nichols and Clayton Dorsey; six great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jake, Westley, Kenlea, Molly and Amora; and two brothers-in-law, Bruce (Judy) Moore and Gary (Sandy) Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a great-granddaughter, Tina; and brother, James A. Sharp.

Arnold Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
