It’s time to talk Christmas?
Well, it’s past time for many, who have already put up their Christmas trees prior to the traditional post-Thanksgiving transition.
After all, there are rules about these kinds of things, right?
But the holiday season is upon us, and with it, there is no shortage of Christmas events in Audrain County and throughout the region. One of the most eagerly anticipated is Merry Christmas - Laddonia Style, set for Saturday, Dec. 4.
Festivities get underway at 6 p.m. with the lighted Christmas parade, hosted by the Laddonia Ladybugs. Lineup starts at 5 at the Laddonia ball park. Anyone wishing to enter is encouraged to call Vicki Duenke at 573-473-2408.
Looking for food?
Well, you’re in luck, as Laddonia-based Big Gun Kettle Corn and Laddonia Christian Church will open at 6.
At 6:35, Laddonia’s mayor, Gary Garnett will welcome attendees at city park. There will be a reading of the Christmas story by the Ministerial Alliance and Christmas Carol Caryn will lead in singing “Away in a Manger”. There will be a reading and hanging of the memory and sesquicentennial ornaments by Melissa Curtis Deimeke and Lois Curtis. Alderman Gerald Davis will light the town Christmas tree and Caryn will lead in singing “Joy to the World”.
Winners of the Christmas yard decorations contest, sponsored by Laddonia Community Betterment, will be announced at 7 p.m. That’s when Santa and Mrs. Claus will start visiting with youngsters and making their Christmas list. There have also been rumors of the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who stopping by the Laddonia Baptist Church Community Building.
