Marla Ray Holtkamp

Marla Ray Holtkamp, 66, of Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, at Pin Oaks Living Center. 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Jones conducting the service. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from noon until time of services at the funeral home.

Mrs. Holtkamp was born on Sept. 11, 1955 in Mexico, the daughter of Raymond E. and Frances L. (Jenkins) Kemp. On June 22, 1974, in Mexico, she married Forrest Holtkamp. He passed away on Sept. 14, 2019. 

Ms. Holtkamp was a 1974 graduate of Mexico High School, where she was a member of the Dixie Grey Band. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing with her twin sister. The sisters were called “The Sunshine Twinsters” and were absolutely inseparable. 

Marla also enjoyed camping, telling stories and cooking. She was like a second mother to her nieces and loved them dearly.

 

Survivors include a sister, Darla (Fred) Todd of Mexico; four nieces and one nephew, Deanna (John) Ketner of Columbia, Danna (Mario) Garcia of Mexico, Dawn (Sean) Carey of Mexico, Marshall (Michelle) Todd of San Antonio, Texas, and April (Scott) Utterback of Mexico; 10 great-nephews and nieces, Adam (Holly) Utterback, Ivy Ketner, Lucas Garcia, Devon Goshorn, Bryna Carey, River Carey, Kiersten Todd, Emily Todd, Brandon Todd, and Erin Todd.

 

Marla was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Holtkamp; her son, Marty Holtkamp, who died on May 4, 2000; and her parents, Raymond and Frances Kemp.

 

The family requests memorial donations be made to Audrain County Dream Factory. Memorials may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
