Mexico boys golf is liking its future.
In an 18-school field at the Class 3 District 2 tournament on May 6 at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, the Bulldogs shot a 418 to finish 16th out of 18 schools.
Karson Rowe had Mexico’s lowest individual district score with a 98, or 26-over par, to tie for 68th. Cayden Brown shot a 99 to finish 71st, Kyler Benne had a 107 to finish 79th, Houston Crow had a 114 to tie for 83rd, and Mac Haag had a 144 to finish 90th.
Head coach Becca Bates said the kids played their best in “a very tough district.” She said they had accomplishments this season that set them up well for the future.
“My kids improved drastically this season with their course management and playing abilities,” Bates said. “Multiple kids shot their career bests. Also in my six years of coaching we had the lowest score as a team at 350.”
