Mexico had a deficit to overcome halfway through Saturday’s game.
The Bulldogs trailed Winfield 3-1 at halftime of their first-round Class 2 District 4 tournament game at Southern Boone in Ashland before losing 5-1. Mexico’s record finishes at 8-13 to increase its win total by two from last year.
The first goal of the game belonged to Mexico off the foot of senior Gage Walker. Then, four different Winfield players scored goals with two coming from Ryder Cichon.
Winfield (14-9) tallied 15 shots and sent 10 of those on goal to junior goalkeeper Grant Walker. The Warriors made six saves on Mexico shots.
