The Mexico boys won some of their matches to start the year.
The Bulldogs lost their season-opening dual 7-2 at Battle on Thursday. Brixton Goerne won in singles 8-3 and Brandon Rodriguez won his singles match 8-4.
Other than that, Mexico’s closest losses were Goerne and Rodriguez in doubles and Boston Davolt in singles, with each match ending in an 8-4 score.
The next night in the home opener, Mexico lost 9-0 to Fort Zumwalt East. Davolt lost his singles match 8-6 and Goerne and Rodriguez fell short in doubles 8-4.
“We started the season on the first allowed dates,” head coach Tony Senor said. “We are a young team with the majority of our players just starting this season. They also had to move up in the lineup with some players gone from the band trip. We played well and we are seeing a lot of growth.”
Mexico plays its next dual at North Central Missouri Conference and district foe Fulton at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
