The Mexico girls didn’t win a game this summer, but they gained a lot.
The Lady Bulldogs lost all nine scrimmages they played in varsity shootouts at places like Monroe City, Montgomery County and Paris. They finished their summer on Thursday with games against Paris, Southern Boone and Westran.
Head coach Makenzie Mudd said the games were decided by 10 points or less, and that Mexico often only had one substitute off the bench this summer.
"Players had to put in a lot of minutes on the floor,” Mudd said. “We saw a ton of growth and development from players throughout the summer and are excited to see what this season brings.”
Mudd said there was a variety of players ranging from freshmen to seniors each time, resulting sometimes in new combinations of players.
Some of our returning varsity players did an excellent job of demonstrating leadership on the floor,” Mudd said. “We had some young players come out and show a lot of promise in the minutes that they got, really showing progress with each game.”
