The Mexico girls didn’t allow their opener to end without a fight.
The Lady Bulldogs came back in Monday’s game at home against California to tie the game at 2 only to lose 3-2 in overtime.
Head coach Sarah Olson said Mexico had two quick goals back-to-back from Bella Cummings and transfer Zoey Norton. Olson was pleased how the Lady Bulldogs did with a shorthanded roster so there weren’t many substitutes used.
“Part of it was probably learning a new formation and kind of coming together as a team for the first time,” Olson said. “Although a loss can be frustrating like this, we are ready to pick it up tomorrow (5 p.m. tonight at Fatima).”
Mexico hosts the Chris Hotop Classic starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
