An 18-year-old Mexico man is facing charges in connection with inappropriate contact with a 13-year-old juvenile. Towards the end of January the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) received a report that Nickolas G. Crum was having inappropriate contact with the juvenile. The report was investigated and a case was forwarded to the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney for statutory rape and statutory sodomy. An arrest warrant was issued on March 8, with the MPSD arresting Crum and transporting him to the Audrain County Jail without incident. During the investigation, MPSD learned of another 13-year-old juvenile Crum had been in contact with. That investigation will be completed and forwarded to the prosecuting attorney as well for possible additional charges.
Residents are reminded that people arrested and charged with a crime are simply accused of the crime and are to be considered innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
