An email was sent out late tonight (Thursday) from the Mexico School District saying Mexico Public Schools was made aware late this (Thursday) evening of a threat against the Mexico High School and the Mexico Middle School.
The email went on to say at this time, we are unsure if the threat is credible, but it is being treated as a serious threat. Student safety in Mexico Public Schools is a top priority. In an abundance of caution, we have decided to close all Mexico Public Schools tomorrow, Friday, October 28th, 2022 in an effort to protect our students and staff.
Mexico Schools Superintendent Melissa Chastain told the Mexico Ledger "I have been working closely with Mexico Public Safety and monitoring the situation very closely."
Mexico Public Safety Chief Susan Rockett says her department will work with the school and a release will be made soon.
