Mexico Schools introduces director of business operations

Posted

Mexico Public Schools has announced Dawn Malone as the incoming director of business operations at central office. Malone has worked in school finance, accounting, and administrative roles for more than 30 years.

“Dawn brings great experience in school finance from her former positions with Harrisburg and Columbia school districts,” said a district spokesperson.

There, she was responsible for payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, state and federal grant compliance, bond fund management, and the annual budget. She is also professionally connected with other school finance professionals through her membership with the Missouri Association of School Business Officials (MoASBO).

The role of business operations contributes to the success of students, faculty, staff, administration, and the community.

“I place high value on the responsibility we have to the community and our taxpayers to ensure the funds are used wisely,” said Malone.

She is excited to work with the team of education professionals at Mexico Public Schools and, in partnership with her team and the administration, provide exceptional financial management to the district.

She officially begins her role on July 1. She was hired to fill the position of director of business operations in place of Stephanie Norris, who leaves the district after a decade as a Bulldog. Stephanie will be moving to the St. Louis area for family obligations and has accepted an advancement position with a St. Louis school district.
